Showit Website Launch: Elizabeth Nord Photography

Build Your Website & Brand

filed in

I can’t believe we finally get to share Elizabeth Nord Photography’s new website with you guys today! Elizabeth is a wedding photographer based in downtown Chicago. She specializes in romantic, authentic, and timeless imagery and we had so much fun creating a website to reflect her style! Her custom Showit website has quickly become one of our all time favorites.

We knew exactly the kind of site we wanted to create for her when she told us her ideal bride wears a Kate Spade purse because it’s classic Audrey Hepburn and never goes out of style and that she travels to Paris for it’s food, wine, romance, architecture, and luxurious fashion. We mixed classic fonts with elegant scripts and editorial inspired layouts to create a site that is truly Liz!

Tell us a little about yourself. How did you get started in photography?
Hey y’all! I’m Liz. I’m a 28 year old who lives in Chicago with my high school sweetheart husband and our dog Charlie. I’m obsessed with Kate Spade, a lover of macarons and all things Paris, and will hug you the first time I meet you. I didn’t grow up thinking that I would become a photographer. I had actually envisioned that I would either be a teacher or a manager of some kind.  I always had a sense of organization and leadership, which I think is because I was the oldest child and it came pretty naturally to me. When I was in the fifth grade, I began scrapbooking photos that I had taken on my little point-and-shoot camera. It took no time at all for me to start dreaming of a “big” camera. Fast forward to age 21. I married my husband just a year before and had been saving up for that “big” camera for a few months. I had about $500 saved up and I was so excited. For Christmas that year though, my mother-in-law decided to surprise me with my very first camera and lens. I fell in LOVE! I began photographing literally everything. I was still in college so thinking about being a full time photographer didn’t even occur to me at the time. I moved to Knoxville, TN a year later and after some encouragement from family and friends, decided to take photography classes at night on top of pursuing my economics degree during the day.  One of my professors and mentors encouraged me to open a business shortly after starting classes, so a few months later, Elizabeth Nord Photography was born.  From there, my business has continued to thrive, excite me, and push me to new limits. I’ve moved my business to three different states over the past 6 years and have learned a lot from that experience. In September of 2014, I moved to Chicago. It was then that I decided to take the leap and become a full time photographer.

Why did you decide to rebrand & redesign your website?
I professionally rebranded last year, but something still didn’t feel right. It was my website. I had always designed my own website, but it got to the point in my business where I no longer had time to completely redo the site myself. I also had no idea how to incorporate a shop, add newsletter sign ups, etc so I knew that I needed to hire a designer to design something custom just for me.

What is your favorite part of your new site?
I have SO many favorites, but if I had to choose just one thing, I think it would have to be my new about me page. Which is strange, right? Because no one likes writing about themselves. It’s filled with not only a little bit about me, but my own love story, my favorite things, and more! I’ve never had “about me” page that was SO ME! I feel like the people going to my website are going to really understand who I am as a person and as a photographer.

Tell us about your ideal client:
My ideal clients are hard-working professionals that crave a stress-free experience. They love romantic and timeless imagery, appreciate the smallest of details, like to travel the world, and are incredibly family-oriented.

Is there anything else you think people considering rebranding should know?
The biggest thing I’ve learned when it comes to rebranding is to not invest in it TOO early. You want to have a professional appearance when you begin your business, so by all means get a logo and have a consistent look, but you don’t need to invest in a full professional rebrand until you’ve really nailed down what you want to offer and who you want to serve. Doing a complete rebrand takes a lot of time, money, and thought so be sure to take the time to invest in an amazing designer who can take your thousands of thoughts and turn it into a brand that is completely YOU. Also (especially for creatives) remember that your brand is not just a logo, colors, etc. Your brand is you. You are what makes your brand and your business unique, so own it!

I really love the layout of her blog posts too!
