Interview w/ Kirstie Jones

"Be extremely passionate. Be narrow focused. Work with the people and the subjects you want to work with. Give yourself grace in the beginning for lifting something off the ground."

Today I’m chatting with equine photographer, Kirstie Jones.

We’re diving into:

  • the benefits of choosing a niche
  • creating a profitable and sustainable business

I really enjoy Kirstie’s perspective on business as well as this conversation. She offers a differing opinion about starting a business from a few of our recent podcast guests and this contrast highlights one of the most beautiful aspects of small business. At the end of the day, you get to be the one who decides how to do this business and do things your own way.

More About Kirstie

Kirstie Jones is an award-winning equine photographer located in Texas with a passion for capturing the immeasurable bond between a girl and her horse. As a lifetime horse enthusiast herself, she has experienced first-hand the bond between a horse and a girl. She strives to capture that special relationship for each and every client.

Her style is characterized by revealing the most beautiful elements of each girl and her horse in sun-soaked, distinctive photos to be treasured for generations to come. Since opening Kirstie Marie Photography ten years ago in Dallas, Texas, she has photographed over 100 world champions and been featured in dozens of the industry’s leading publications. In 2015, she began offering mentoring services to other photographers and small business owners. As one of the leading teachers in the equine photography niche, she is regularly asked to speak at industry conferences, appear on podcasts, and be featured on blogs and in magazines. Her goal is simple: to help others establish a profitable, sustainable business that becomes the career of their dreams.
