We’re so excited to share the custom brand we created for Columbus, Ohio wedding photographer Krista Piper. While we love all of the brands we get to work on, we get extra excited when we’re asked to create a coastal-inspired brand. We worked with Krista to illustrate a watercolor coral elements to sit within a clean, serif logo. Krista then took her brand elements and applied them to our St. Simon’s Island Showit website template and we couldn’t be more excited about the way everything came together!
Tell us a little about yourself. How did you get started in photography?
Hi! I am a wedding photographer based in Columbus, Ohio. I photograph weddings and engagements in Ohio and destinations. I started my business in 2007 while I was going to school for Interior Space Design at The Ohio State University. I did graduate with my Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, but I started my photography business when I was a junior at OSU. Once I graduated I knew photography was the direction I wanted to go towards and leave interior design behind. The business started with a general love for photography. I got my first camera in 4th grade and fell in love with taking photos. I got serious about it after I bought my first digital SLR camera when I was 19. I took a couple of pictures of friends, and one of them commented on how natural I looked holding a camera. I felt like it was the strangest comment ever, but it stuck with me, and it made me think about actually having a photography business. That thought carried through, and I opened up my business within a couple of months.

Why did you decide to rebrand + redesign your website?
I decided to rebrand and do a redesign because it was something I have always wanted to do. We had a professional class in design school, and that is how my first logo came about, and it stuck for a long time. Way to long of a time! Over the past couple of years I have been itching to work with a professional graphic designer and had kept my eye out, but no one grabbed my attention. I knew that I needed to rework my logo and build a brand that spoke to not only myself but also my ideal clients. I wasn’t getting that from my old logo and this year for me is all about taking my brand and business to the next level. I found Krista after she designed for another photographer and once I looked through all of their work I fell in love with the vibe and her style of design.
What is your favorite part of your new brand (or website)?
EVERYTHING. Seriously, I love the new brand logo and all the branding elements. I love how polished and put together everything is within the brand elements. I feel like it really speaks to me, who I am and who my brand is. The graphics are perfect, and I love them so much I have to hold myself back from using them too much! I did get their template for my website, and I worked on revamping my website. I absolutely loved this combination since the brand elements fit so perfectly into the new website.
Overall Brand
Is there anything else you think people considering re-branding (or re-designing) their website should know?
Do it! If you have thought about rebranding or redesigning your website and using Krista – RUN to her and do it! I wish I would have worked with them several years ago when I first got the thought that I needed to rebrand. Krista was able to pick my brain about what I wanted my brand to be and what I liked and with her talents turn all that chaos in my mind into a beautiful brand that represents me. I can not thank her enough for all the work she did!
