A lot of people ask me how I manage running a design business and photography business simultaneously. It takes a lot of coffee, but it also takes a an amazingly organized to do list.
At any given time, my browser typically has at least two tabs open. One for my gmail account and the other for my favorite to do list app, TeuxDuex. I live and breath for my to do list and I can honestly say that if something isn’t on the list, it’s probably not getting done. Even simple things like watering my plants and painting my nails end up on the list.
There are a lot of really amazing to do list apps out there, but I really love the simplicity of TeuxDeux. It’s easy to add or move items between days and if you don’t check something off on a particular day, it automatically moves to the next day. It stays much cleaner than a paper list and it still gives me that amazing feeling of “checking things off the list.”
You can also move tasks down to the bottom sections to maintain ongoing lists. I use this to keep track of where my design clients are in the process, who is on my waiting list and maintain tasks for larger projects, like prepping for a workshop.
You can even set tasks to repeat weekly or daily by typing “daily”, “weekly” or “monthly” after a task. So for example, every Friday I write my blog posts for the following week, so I would type “Prep Blog Posts every week” to add it to the calendar for every Friday.
You can add two asterisks around an item to make it **bold** or type one for *italics.*
TeuxDeux also saves past lists so if I really wanted to, I could go back and see what I was doing five years ago today (I’ve been using it that long!)
TeuxDeux has a free 30 day trial and if you’re still skeptical about using it, it’s only $3 a month or $24 a year. And this isn’t a sponsored post, I just really LOVE using the app and I thought I would share it with you!
I would also love to know if you guys have any recommendations for other productivity apps. (Not that I’ll be switching any time soon!)
