We’re sharing another Palm Shop template launch with you today! Aislinn’s work is absolutely gorgeous (plus we’re big fans of her as a person!) and we were so excited when she decided to use Positano for her new Showit + WordPress website. Aislinn is a Southern-based photographer with an elegant, romantic brand. The ample white space and classic fonts in Positano were the perfect mix with her beautiful crest logo and colorful, film photos. We asked Aislinn to share a bit about herself & her new website.
Tell us a little about yourself. How did you get started in photography?
My name is Aislinn McKenna! I am a wedding photographer serving joyful and sophisticated couples in Huntsville, Alabama and all over the South. My love of photography comes from my mother, who photographed our family every Thanksgiving on the beach in my hometown of Destin, Florida. She was our family historian and it truly beautiful seeing our family grow through those annual photos. I began apprenticing under wedding and portrait photographers during high school, and my love of photography only grew as I took on weddings of my own starting at age 17. During college, I took on several summer internships with photographers I admired. I look back on my journey to becoming a wedding photographer, and I am in awe of the way God lined things up in my life.
Why did you decide to redesign your website?
I loved my old website, but I felt like I was outgrowing the constraints of the original site template. I wanted a website that represented where I am in my business right now and where I want to go in the future.
What is your favorite part of your new site?
I’m kind of obsessed with the section of my “Meet Aislinn” that talks about what I believe in. Because those “I Believe” statements speak to the core statement of why I am a wedding photographer. I also like any part of my website that has my puppy mentioned.
Tell us about your ideal client:
My ideal client surrounds herself with uplifters: her maid of honor tells her how lucky she is to be standing by her side on wedding day, her fiance tells her how much joy she brings into his life, her daddy tells her how proud he is of the beautiful woman she has become. She adjusts the brooch on her bouquet that was her late grandmother’s favorite. Today would be the beginning of her legacy. If it rains, so be it. She would dance in the rain if it meant marrying her best friend. She loved spending time with her mama picking out wedding details and having artisans craft them. Her parents always taught her that good things take time and great things take love. She is full of grace and gives grace to those around her. She fell in love with her fiance because he makes her feel safe. Safe to be herself. He even liked the way she pointed out every puppy they pass on their nature walks. My ideal client is sophisticated, joyful, and sentimental.
Is there anything else you think people considering re-designing their website should know?
Carve out time to do the prep work before you start the actual redesign. I spent several months over the summer working on my ideal client profile, my belief statements, picking out portfolio photos, and gathering reviews from previous clients. By the time I started working on redesigning my website in December, I had all of the content I wanted to include in my new website. If you do a full rebrand, a brand designer, like Davey and Krista, will help you with this type of prep work so that your website really speaks to your ideal audience.
