I still can’t believe we’re writing this post! Even though we’re 12 weeks and we’ve both seen the baby and heard his/her heartbeat, it’s still sometimes difficult to look at my stomach and convince myself there’s a baby in there! Although I’m sure I’ll feel differently when my stomach pops this trimester.
We’ve already gotten a lot of questions since we officially announced on Sunday, and we figured it would be easiest to answer everything in a blog post!
Have you been sick?
Yes! Super sick! I’m amazed the world didn’t find out sooner because I’ve been in bed since week five. I wasn’t able to teach my styled shoot at United because I was physically sick that morning, but thankfully Cassie Jones was there to step in (and she did an amazing job!) The vomiting is starting to let up a little and I’m slowly starting to feel like a human again. Well, a human who can’t stay awake past 9pm.
When are you due?
Our official due date is June 10th!
When did you find out and did you tell Davey in a fun way?
We found out on October 2nd. It was the week we were launching our Inquiry System Course and our lives were a little hectic – so I wasn’t focused on pregnancy at all! We were about to go for a walk, and Davey suggested I take a pregnancy test. I didn’t want to waste a test (the early detection ones get pretty expensive!) but I figured I might as well put him at ease. It was positive immediately and I walked out into the living room and just held up the stick for Davey. I couldn’t believe it!
Are you going to find out the gender?
Yes! We can’t wait! Davey asks every doctor we see if they’ll tell him 🙂
Have you had any cravings or aversions?
With being so sick, it’s more about what I can keep down at the moment. I used to eat low-carb/high fat, but since becoming pregnant, I can really only stomach bland carbs. Pasta with a tiny bit of cheese, lactose-free ice cream, watermelon, sour apples and preggie pops are my go-to’s at the moment. I’m hoping that changes soon because I miss real food – especially pizza (tomato sauce kills me right now!), veggies & meat!
I’ve also found that I can’t stand coffee (I used to love it!), garlic and ginger (it only helped me for a few days before it became an aversion). And the weirdest one? Sugar! Especially brown sugar – which is super sad since the holidays are coming up and I love Christmas cookies!
Have you bought anything for the baby yet?
Only a stocking! I have some ideas for how I want to decorate the nursery, but everything is on hold until we know the gender.
What do you think you’re having?
I think it’s a boy but Davey think’s it’s a girl. We’ll find out in a few weeks!
