Over the last few months we’ve been hard at work bringing our designs to life on the WordPress platform.
We had two primary goals as we tackled this project. That our WordPress designs would be…
1) just as beautiful as our Showit designs.
2) easy for the end user to set up and customize.
And we’re excited to announce that Positano, East Hampton, and St. Augustine are all now available for WordPress.
(Do you sell products online? We have a WordPress e-commerce design coming very soon! Stay tuned for details.)
We put in a lot of time making sure that our WordPress designs are just as easy to use as our other designs. To help, we decided to do three things:
First, we’ve put together a full set-up and customization course complete with video tutorials introducing users to each element of their new website. This new set-up also makes it easier to leave comments and ask questions. This is in addition to the email support we already offer.
Second, we’ve decided to create a Facebook group where questions can be asked about website set-up, and discussions can be held around different integrations, content marketing, and search engine optimization.
This group is only available for people who purchase a full website design (Showit, WordPress, or custom design clients) or have enrolled in the Inquiry System Course.
And third, we’ve decided to offer website hosting. While we think one of the advantages of WordPress is that you can secure your own hosting, we also recognize it’s something that many people don’t want to deal with. So now we’re providing access to ‘done-for-you’ premium hosting.
For more details on our new WordPress designs and hosting, be sure to check out our WordPress Center.
We know there’s probably questions about how all of this works, so we’ve put together this list of anticipated ‘frequently asked questions.’
If you have a question that you don’t see answered, hit us up on ‘live chat’ or send us email.
Yes! Our designs work with Elementor Pro, which is a drag-and-drop WordPress website builder plugin (and we think it’s the best out there).
We’ve also created a full website set-up and customization course that contains video tutorials explaining each element of your new website. Anyone who purchases a WordPress design from us gets access to this course.
You’ll only need to secure hosting (every website needs to be hosted somewhere), and purchase the Elementor Pro plugin.
Elementor Pro is $49/year for a single-site license, which is far less expensive than Divi, ProPhoto, or a Showit subscription. It also renews at a 25% discount each year.
No, our WordPress designs only work with the Elementor Pro plugin. We chose Elementor Pro because it provides more creative freedom than ProPhoto and much cleaner code than Divi.
We did lots and lots of research on different WordPress builders, and we think Elementor is the best one out there.
We do have Showit versions of each design available.
No, you’ll need a WordPress.org install for our designs to function as displayed. If you’re confused about the difference between the two, we’d be happy to explain. Just hit us up on live chat.
Well, pretty much everything! Add your own logo, fonts, colors, images, and copy. You can change up layouts, too (but we think the layouts are beautiful as-is).
Yes! One of the big benefits of WordPress is that it’s considered a ‘search engine friendly’ platform and there are so many tools out there to help you optimize your WordPress website.
We think WordPress is one of the most optimizable platforms because one has so much control over each aspect of their website.
A longer post is being created about this, but in short…
We’re big fans of both platforms. You can create a beautiful website on either Showit or WordPress that’s easy to update and gets the job done for your business.
The biggest difference is control. For instance, Showit doesn’t provide access to their servers so you can’t do your own optimization. Additionally, if you’re looking for membership or e-commerce functionality, it’s much more difficult to implement on Showit.
WordPress is self-hosted, so you can access your server to make different optimizations (such as website speed). And it’s also a lot easier to implement advanced functionality like membership and e-commerce.
We’re still BIG fans of Showit and think it’s a great choice for many people, especially photographers and creative service-based businesses. And, of course, we’ll continue to make designs available for the Showit platform.
We created our WordPress designs for people who need something a little different—whether it be more control or different functionality.
You can also have us manage your website hosting. We provide access to premium hosting, take care of much of the set-up, are around to answer questions, and do all of that at a comparable price to what you pay elsewhere.
Whatever you choose, remember that finding a good website host will be critical to the performance of your website.
Yes, we offer email support and access to a website set-up and customization course full of video tutorials.
In addition to that, you’ll also get access to a Facebook group where you can ask questions, participate in discussions, and get access to special tutorials and Q&A sessions.
We have a dedicated WordPress center where you can learn more about WordPress and check out our designs. We’ll be updating it with tutorials similar to the ones we’ve created for our Showit designs.
If there’s a design that you don’t see available for WordPress yet, drop us a note. We won’t be making all of our current Showit designs available on WordPress, but may reconsider the status of a few designs based on demand.
Join our email list to be the first to know about future design releases (like our e-commerce design dropping next week!).
And as always, feel free to hit us up if you have any questions.
