How to Connect Showit + WordPress for Blogging

If you haven’t heard of Showit before, it’s the best website-building app on the market. In our humble opinion.

Showit is a 100% drag-and-drop website builder that allows you to create beautiful websites without having to worry about code, installing themes, plugins breaking your site, and more.

And one of the best parts about Showit? It integrates fully with WordPress.

WordPress is the most powerful (and popular) site builder and blogging platform out there. To date, it actually powers around ⅓ of the internet.

Showit + WordPress = beauty meets power

But figuring out how Showit works with WordPress can take a minute.

So, we put together a video tutorial to show you how the Showit website builder connects with WordPress, how to style your blog pages, and how to create your first blog post.

Watch the video tutorial, and then take a look at the process and resources below.

Let’s break down the process:

1. Pick a Showit template

The Showit library is filled with beautiful starter templates from designers (like us) that you can use to begin your website.

Or grab a premium template from designers (also us!), add the simple share key to your Showit account and begin customizing.

2. Customize the Blog Settings

Showit page templates are broken up into two sections: page templates and blog (WordPress) templates.

Page templates are great for anything that doesn’t need WooCommerce installed. Think homepages that don’t pull in dynamic blog posts, about pages, contact pages, sales pages, etc.

Blog pages are what you’ll use for your blog post list, single post pages, category pages, search pages and anything that needs WordPress functionality (such as WooCommerce).

Follow the video above to see WordPress templates in action and learn how to set them up.

Hint: One of the biggest mistakes we see people make in this area is trying to use the single post page as their blog post content by duplicating it for each post. Don’t do this. There is a MUCH easier way, featured in our video tutorial.

3. Blog Post Content

If you have an existing WordPress or Squarespace site and want to migrate your blog posts, jump to the next step!

If your blog is brand new, we recommend writing your posts in something like Google Docs. Don’t worry about adding the images to those docs, as you won’t be able to extract them. Simply adding the text is perfect.

The easiest way to manage blog post images while you’re drafting content is to create folders on your desktop and add web-sized images to those folders.

If you’ve never sized images for the web, make sure you watch this tutorial because uploading full resolution images to your site can really hurt its performance and negatively impact your ability to rank in search engines.

Aim to prepare 3-5 blog posts for your site’s launch. You want enough content to ensure that the page feels “full.”

If you’re stressed about writing blog posts, we have a quick tutorial that teaches you how to use AI (ChatGPT) to conduct keyword research and generate an outline, making blog post creation a breeze.

You won’t be able to load these posts in WordPress yet, but we’ll get to that soon.

4. Migrating Blog posts

If you already have a WordPress or Squarespace blog, Showit will migrate that content for you. You’ll need their Advanced plan, but trust us, it’s worth it.

If you’re coming from a different blog editor such as Wix or Weebly, moving your posts off of those platforms can be challenging. This is one of the biggest reasons why we don’t recommend those platforms.

We’ve used third-party (paid) services or Fiverr in the past, but they can be hit or miss, and cost extra. If you’re going that route, make sure you tell the developer that you need the images migrated as well – not just the text. Otherwise when your new site goes live, all of the links to the images will be broken.

5. Publish

When your site is as done as it can be without the blog posts, you’ll put in a request to Showit to make your site live. At this time, they’ll migrate any existing blog posts from your current WordPress or Squarespace site and give you a login. If your blog is new or you won’t be migrating blog posts, they’ll give you a WordPress login.

This new WordPress login is connected to your new site, and it’s where you’ll add your blog posts and edit existing posts.

To access this area, type in your site’s url and then add /wp-admin to the end.

This login is likely the same as your Showit account login, but you can always reset your password if needed.

6. Blogging in Showit

If you’re new to adding blog posts to WordPress, follow the video tutorial above.

You may also find these videos helpful for sizing your images for the web. This is important, so don’t skip this step!

When Showit sets up your WordPress account, they will likely add both the classic post editor as well as the newer Gutenburg editor. You can toggle those on/off in the plugins area of WordPress.

If you watch the video above, you’ll see a quick comparison of the two editors. Personally, we like the Gutenberg version better.

For every blog post, make sure you’re completing these items:

  • Post Title
  • Post Date
  • Post URL (this should be short + simple)
  • Category (no more than two)
  • Featured Image
  • Post content

We also think it’s a good idea to add an SEO plugin to your Showit WordPress blog. These days, we’re loving RankMath. If you want to learn more about plugin options, you can take a peek at this article

    Meet Davey & Krista

We've spent 15+ years designing brands and websites for creative businesses — and paying close attention to what actually works.

Every template we've built is informed by real client projects, real conversion data, and a deep understanding of what makes someone go from browsing to booking. We don't just design for beautiful. We design for what happens after someone lands on your page.

That's why our templates don't just come with files. They come with the guidance to use them — writing prompts, launch checklists, and systems that take you from purchase to published.

We also teach. Our designer courses are where we train the next generation of designers, and DesignEdit is our newsletter for working creatives who want to stay ahead of AI. All of it comes from the same place: the belief that good design should make your business feel lighter, not harder.
