Blogging is one of the best ways to support the growth of your business, both in terms of driving organic traffic to your website and in demonstrating your position as an authority figure in your industry. We believe this so wholeheartedly that all Showit website templates in our shop include a WordPress blog perfectly matched to the theme design + WordPress blog post layout.
Still, we know that getting started with your Showit blog can be daunting. In this post we’re going to answer some frequently asked questions regarding blogging with Showit and discuss how Showit blogs actually function.
Frequently Asked Questions about Blogging on Showit
How does blogging work on Showit?
Showit is a design tool. It allows you to design your gorgeous website by dragging and dropping elements into place. To blog on your Showit website, you need WordPress, which is a content management tool.
You’ll design your blog using the Showit app, but you’ll actually blog within your associated WordPress account (they’ll create it for you!) In Showit, you’ll designate placeholders where the blog elements like title, date, and content should populate. Then, you’ll log in to WordPress using your Showit username and password to write and publish your posts. As soon as you publish a new post in WordPress it automatically populates on your Showit website.
You get all of the blogging features of WordPress without the added complexity most WordPress sites require. It’s a win-win!
Is Showit good for blogging?
Because of the Showit/Wordpress integration, the real question is, “Is WordPress good for blogging?” And that answer is a resounding yes. Unless you’re proficient with coding and know some HTML, CSS, PHP, and Javascript, designing your website in WordPress can be nightmarish.
But blogging with WordPress is a whole other story– you can take advantage of the SEO capabilities of the platform without any coding required.
Is the Advanced Blog Plan worth it?
We’ve shared our thoughts about whether Showit’s advanced blog plan is worth it, but I truly believe that it is worth spending just a little more if you’re really serious about SEO and content marketing. It includes the ability to add WordPress plugins and provides advanced hosting for your blog. If you need to migrate your blog from somewhere else, you’ll have to choose this plan, as it’s the only one that includes migration service.
Is Showit good for SEO?
Showit works well for SEO as long as you follow SEO best practices and produce quality content. Using a specific platform won’t make your website rank; that’s completely dependent on your efforts.
We covered Showit SEO in-depth right here, with strategies about how to rank your Showit website, an overview of their SEO tools, and how Showit compares to other platforms. The short version is that you should learn SEO basics, utilize Showit’s SEO tools, and publish helpful content that’s related to your industry and what your clients want to learn.
Is it easy to blog on Showit?
Yes, it’s incredibly easy to blog on Showit. Showit has an excellent support team PLUS thorough documentation on how to blog with Showit. If you use our Showit templates or are a custom client, you also get access to our support team and video library.
Are Showit blogs mobile friendly?
Showit offers a side by side editor so you can separately edit the mobile and desktop version of each page. A number of other platforms just alter the desktop version of your website to fit mobile screens, so it’s definitely a perk to have much more control over the mobile version without having to learn any code.
How do I add a blog to my Showit website?
Setting up a blog on your Showit website is incredibly easy because you don’t have to do any of the work. Showit’s team will help you create a new blog or migrate an existing blog once you sign up.
Here’s what you need to do to add a blog to your Showit website:
- Log in to the Showit designer and select Site Settings.
- Under the Site Info tab you’ll see a line that says Custom Domain. Click Edit.
- Follow the steps to set up your domain.
- Select I want Showit to set up or migrate my blog.
- Complete all necessary information about your new blog or existing blog you want to be migrated.
You’ll be notified when your blog has been created or migrated. Congratulations—you can publish new blogs to your site!
An overview of Showit blogging features
Thanks to the Showit-WordPress integration, there is no shortage of blog features available through your Showit blog. Here are just a few:
Publishing tools
You’re able to create and save drafts, schedule publication, and look at the history of your post revisions.
SEO capabilities
WordPress offers a number of SEO plugins, including RankMath, which you can use to evaluate the readability and SEO performance of each post. You can also take advantage of image alt-text optimization, title tags, and meta descriptions.

Social sharing
By adding a canvas with social icons to your blog template you can make it easy for readers to share a helpful blog post. All they have to do is click on the icon and they’ll be able to immediately post the blog to their chosen social media channel.
Featured posts section
At the top of your blog posts page you’re able to create a featured posts section. If you have specific blogs that drive the majority of your website traffic or really speak to your industry authority, this is a great way to keep them front and center.
Large plugin directory
We’ve mentioned the RankMath plugin, but that’s just the beginning. WordPress offers thousands of plugins that are each designed to meet specific needs on your Showit site. A few fan favorites include—
- Google Analytics Dashboard
- Akismet, which protects against spam comments
- Smush, which compresses photos to help your page load faster
- Kit, which integrates with your Kit account to help capture leads
- Redirection, which you can use to set up individual page directions and redirect 404 errors to an active page
Using the right plugins can help boost your site’s SEO and user experience.
What other blogging benefits does Showit offer?
Almost endless support
Showit’s customer support is top notch, and they provide access to dozens of tutorials that walk you through just about every question you might have. There’s also a large community in the Showit Facebook group and an annual Showit United conference. It’s definitely a plus of using such a well-loved platform for your website and blog.
Secure WordPress hosting
Website security is cricual in protecting you against bad actors and demonstrating that your site is legit and to be trusted. Showit’s security features come with your subscription so you’re not paying anything extra. These features include:
- SSL encryption (which takes your site from http to https)
- Firewall protection
- Hacked site support
- 30 days of daily backups
Website security tends to be an afterthought, unfortunately, so we appreciate the proactive measures that Showit takes to protect users.
How does Showit compare to other blogging platforms?
Since Showit uses WordPress as its blogging platform, there’s not much use in comparing the two when it comes to their blogging functionality. If you’re trying to decide between the two websites platforms, check out our Showit vs. WordPress/Elementor comparison post.
Squarespace offers a built-in blog page that allows you to choose a layout, customize the design, and adjust a few settings, but overall it lacks flexibility and function. It does enough to meet your basic blogging needs but nothing more.
Related: Showit vs. Squarespace
Like Squarespace, a Wix website includes blogging capabilities. However, the built-in blog editor doesn’t allow you to do much more than create and publish posts. There are far fewer customization options and advanced features than with Showit/WordPress.
