A Website That Finally Reflects the Brand
When Steve Michalak first picked up a camera, it was thanks to online creators like Casey Neistat and Sam Kolder. But after stumbling across a YouTube channel on how to film weddings, he took that passion and turned it into a career—starting with wedding videography in 2017 and transitioning fully into photography by 2019.
As his skills sharpened and his brand evolved, Steve realized his old website just wasn’t keeping up. It didn’t reflect the luxury experience he offered his clients—and even worse, it was a nightmare to update.
He needed a solution that not only looked stunning but also functioned smoothly. That’s when he discovered Showit and the Davey & Krista templates.

A Story That Started With a Camera and a YouTube Video
Steve didn’t come from a traditional photography background. Instead, he was drawn to storytelling through video, influenced by YouTube creators known for their cinematic vlogs.
“I shot my first wedding video in 2017, then started moving into photography in 2019. I slowly phased out video over the next couple years—stuck with it, and now here we are!”
His passion for capturing weddings led to a full-time business and a growing clientele seeking high-end, timeless images.
Why He Knew It Was Time to Redesign
Even though his business had matured, his website hadn’t. The design felt dated, the editing process was frustrating, and it simply didn’t convey the luxury experience Steve delivered to clients.
“My prior website didn’t truly represent my brand. Plus, it was such a hassle to make updates.”
Like many photographers, Steve needed a site that:
- Showcased visual work beautifully
- Communicated luxury without being over-designed
- Was flexible enough to evolve with his brand
- Was easy to update without coding headaches
The Davey & Krista Template That Delivered
After discovering Davey & Krista, Steve was immediately drawn to the aesthetics of their Showit templates.
“There are other options out there, but these immediately caught my eye. They’re gorgeous. And branding is everything—especially in the high-end market.”
But it wasn’t just about looks. The functionality sealed the deal.
“I love how easy it is to make edits and customizations. If I have something in my mind, I can bring it to life. There’s no bottleneck like with my previous platform.”
The switch to Showit gave Steve:
- Total design freedom without needing a developer
- Visual storytelling tools made for photographers
- A website that’s easy to scale, update, and personalize
- A digital brand experience that matches the quality of his work
What Happened After Launch
Though the launch was recent, Steve has already noticed an immediate shift.
“I received a couple of inquiries the day of the website launch.”
It’s a powerful reminder that when your website feels aligned with your brand, dream clients respond. And with a strong first impression, booking becomes a lot easier.
