FREQuently asked questions —
Content Migration
What is that and how does it work?
“Content migration” means we’ll move the blog posts on your existing site to your new site. If you’re coming from WordPress or Showit, your content migration is free! If you’re coming from Squarespace, Wix, or another platform, we’ll most likely need to use a third-party service to export your content. That’s something we have to pay for and depending on how many blogs posts you have, the price varies.
On average, a website with 100 blog posts would be about $70 to migrate. If you have questions about this, just send your blog post count to support@daveyandkrista.com and we can give you a more accurate estimate.
Please note that content migration isn’t something we profit on… we’re just covering our costs.

Can you host my website if I don’t use one of your designs?
Yep, we sure can as long as it’s a WordPress website.
So your my host? Do I need Bluehost, WordPress.com, Showit or any other host?
We’ll replace you current host (Squarespace, Bluehost, WordPress.com, Showit, etc.). Once your migration is complete, you should be able to cancel your other hosting (double-check with us before deleting anything!).
Just keep in mind that if you have email set up with your other hosting or your domain is registered with that host, you’ll either need to move those or just pay for those options. If you need to move your email, we recommend Google Business mail (it’s what we use). If you need to move your domain, we recommend Google Domains.
Are we on Google’s payroll? Nope! We just like keeping everything in one place and most people use Gmail.
Does it have to be a WordPress website?
We specialize in making sure WordPress websites run great.
Is there an option for Showit websites?
The current version of The Palm Tree Club is only for WordPress users. If you’re interested in a Showit version of the Palm Tree Club, feel free to reach out to us at support@daveyandkrista.com.
Are there any additional fees to get signed up?
Like with all website hosts, you’ll need to pay for your domain separately. Depending on how your email is currently set up, you may also need to migrate it to something like Google Business mail for easier management.
The only other fee you’ll need to pay for is an Elementor Pro license. That is $59 a year and is required for all of our Elementor websites. While Elementor offers a variety of options, you just need the “Essential Plan”.
Do you offer support if I run into an issue?
Yes! Our support is one of the things that sets up apart from the hosting companies that charge only a few dollars a month. If something breaks or you need help with something, just send us an email!
Yes, by joining the Palm Tree Club, you commit to hosting with us for at least one year. Any early cancellations would incur additional fees.
No, but we can help you get set up with Google’s GSuite, which we highly recommend for business email. It’s only $6/month/user.
Where should I buy my domain name?
These days we recommend grabbing your domain from GoDaddy. You can skip all the extras they offer. You’ll JUST need the domain. Typically this is going to be around $12 to $15 a year – depending on the domain itself.
Does membership in The Palm Tree Club come with a website?
Yep! You can choose from any of our full WordPress website designs. Add-on pages (such as the pricing or album pages) are not included in the offer but can be added at any point.
What if I want a custom designed website?
We’re happy to help! Just inquire here for details.
How much does it cost to migrate my website?
If you’re coming from WordPress or Showit, your content migration is free!

Please allow up to 5 business days for a website migration. We’ll let you know when everything has been migrated successfully.
Will my website go down while it’s being migrated?
There should be no or very little interruption in service while we are migrating your website.
Can I host multiple websites with you?
You sure can! We offer a discount for additional websites—just reach out to us for details (support@daveyandkrista.com).
Does this work for WordPress.com websites? What’s the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org?
We can manage hosting for WordPress.org websites. WordPress.com websites can only be hosted by WordPress.com.
There are a few key differences between the two WordPress options. WordPress.org is free and open-source. As a a result, you’ll have a lot more flexibility in building your website. WordPress.com is still WordPress, but there are certain restrictions based on which plan you choose (because they host your website). While content migration and template installation are included in the basic setup of your Palm Tree Club Membership, we know sometimes it’s easy to feel overwhelmed when starting a new project.
That’s why we recently added “Start Up Sessions” to our Palm Tree Club Membership offerings. Send us your existing brand, color palette, fonts and images and we’ll implement them on the top level navigation of your site.
In the same way that painting a house before you move in can make it feel more like YOU, these sessions are designed to make your new website even more “move in ready”.

This is what adds the “HTTPS” to your website and makes it secure. If you’ve ever visited a website and your browser gave you a warning that this page may not be safe, it’s likely they were missing their SSL certificate. Ours are built into your live site. No need for extra plugins or fees to add an SSL certificate.
Nightly Website Backups

Rest easy knowing that each night, the most recent version of your website will be backed up in the cloud. That means that if something should go wrong with your site (it gets hacked, you accidentally delete something, etc), we can easily restore your site to the way it was the the day before.

No one wants to sign on to their website only to find that it’s been down for some time. In the event that your site does go down, we’ll get a notice immediately so that we can start working to get it back up.
